The Surroundings of Púchov

 

Nimnica Spa

Nimnica Spa is the newest spa of salty alcalic-earthy-carbonic spring in Slovakia. The spring was found by chance,during building of the Nosice damn in 1952. There are four therapeutical facilities where non-specified respire diseases and metabolism diseases have been cured since 1959. A modern building of balneotherapy is a centre of therapeutical procedures. The Priehrada mládeže damn is very attractive for visitors as well as a hiking track leading to the Holíč hill with a nice view. There is a salaš whose sheep milk products belong to the best ones in Slovakia.


Belušské Slatiny

A recreation and hiking centre about 10 km from Púchov. The spa was built just after 1-st World War. There are three earthy-sulphureous springs for cure of reumatism, inside and skin illneses. Belušské Slatiny offer relax and recreation, accomodation facilities with complex services are available there.


Mojtín

The mountain village is situated in the Zliechovská hornatina mountain range about 18 km east from Púchov. Púchov settlement of the latenian period was discovered nearby..A famous”eternal souldier Jozef Škultéty-Gabriš who was fighting in the Habsburgh armies for all decades came from here. A neo- classicism church from 1858 houses pictures by J.B.Klemens from 19-th century. The village offers good possibilities of sports, ski lifts and hiking tracks.


Lysá pod Makytou

The village is situated on the border of two mountain regions- Biele Karpaty and Javorníky in the upper part of the Biela Voda river valley, about 14 km northwest of Púchov.The only record about the village comes from 1471 when it belonged to the Lednica gentry..A classical church built in 1800-1842 has an interesting bell which was brought here from the Zobor monastery.There is a hiking track to Makyta which is a 922 m high hill dominating all the surroundings.


Lazy pod Makytou

The village about 7 km long, 22 km from the town of Púchov.There are a few hamlets there – Dubková, potok, Rieka, Tisové, Mladoňov, Čertov, with good skiing conditions.Makytka is the highest located hamlet of Lazy.There are more hiking tracks there, mostly starting in Čertov.The one leading on the edge of Javorníky across Portáš belongs to the most beautiful pathways.In winter this area changes to an attractive skiing resort with several ski lifts.


Lednické Rovne

10 km from Púchov, Josef Schreiber founded a glass factory here in 1892. It was developing graduallly and nowadays its products are famous in the country and abroad as well.Visitors of Lednické Rovne are attracted by a beautiful baroque manor house , econstructed in1860 in the style of romanticism. Today it houses the Slovak Glass Museum.The manor house is surrounded by a park with a botanical garden of 20 ha where Slovak and exotic plants can be seen. Surroundings of Lednické Rovne provide many undemanding hiking pathways. Trips to the Lednica Castle ruins and to the Lednica Rock (above the Lednica village) belong to the favourite ones.
